Story Guidelines
Guidelines for Volunteer Stories
Dear Volunteer, we are happy to publish your volunteer story. Here are a few things, you should know before you submit:
Information we need sort the stories
- Country,
- Year you volunteered (some information might change over the years),
- Name of the organization or project you have been working with
Information we ask for, but will not publish
We need your name and a valid email address to be able to contact you.
What your story should contain
- Basicly a personal account of your experience,
- Some general information about the country (think of someone who has never been there)
- Information about the project (kind of project, what work is available, staff)
- Information about yourself: Age, nationality, other volunteer experience
Things to avoid in your story
We know that sometimes things do not work out the way they were planned. If you are unhappy with a certain project or organization, describe your experience, try to explain what went wrong and why. If you have an idea how others can avoid this kind of experience, write about it. But please be fair and use proper language.
Same goes for praise: Tell us why it was so good, describe the great experience in detail. Just saying: It was great would not really help others. And remember you do not write an ad copy her but a true volunteer story.
